Romijn-Stamos is not the only eye-catching member of the female cast. “I think the movie will appeal to a very young audience,” says Stewart, “because it has interesting, attractive, exciting and, boy, I’ve gotta say, sexy people in it. I sometimes looked around me on the set or at my colleagues sitting in the cast chairs waiting to work, and this has got to be one of the most attractive groups of people I’ve ever filmed with.”
“My call times were one to three a.m. for the most part, and we’d be ready seven to eight hours later.
It was the most mind-numbing process you could imagine, and I
maintain that nobody without modelling experience could have
handled it”

But one thing that has been no respecter of beauty on the set of X-Men is the stunt scenes, including flying, which have as far as possible been performed by the cast members. Jackman, in particular, recalls one of the set-pieces, where Wolverine attempts to rescue the abducted Rogue on a subway train.
“That scene happened to be with Anna Paquin, who of course I’m a huge fan of, and I love working with,” he says. “The train is ripping apart, and I can honestly say that’s another point in this film where there was no acting required. It took a whole night to set up this train carriage. A complete train carriage, before our very eyes and with us inside it and packed, just completely rips in two.
“Anna, next to me, was just meant to grab onto the seat, but she’s going...” - Jackman gives a very convincing female scream - “and grabbing onto my arm. I had bruises for a couple of days from her grabbing, because this train just completely ripped apart, sparks flying everywhere. It was fantastic. I loved it. I said ‘We’ve just had the first thrill ride! That’s gonna be at Fox Studios Australia or something: ‘X-Men: The Experience’. If it’s half as good as that, I’d go again. It was great!”
